Hi, I'm Nigisti – Let Me Share My Ethiopia With You

My name, Nigisti, means "Queen" — I was born on the Ethiopian Orthodox Christmas holiday, sharing a birth date with Jesus, and I grew up in northern Ethiopia near the ancient Kingdom of Axum. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from Addis Ababa University and a College Diploma in Tour Operation, but my real education has come from over a decade guiding travelers across this country myself, since 2014 — including a period as a humanitarian translator for Médecins Sans Frontières in Tigray.

Since founding Africa Tour Guide in 2020, I've built a company with the experience and reach to organize trips not just across Ethiopia, but throughout 10 African countries — backed by skilled, multilingual guides and drivers who are graduates of reputable institutions. Every itinerary I personally curate, from the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela to the otherworldly Danakil Depression, is planned with the same care I'd give a close friend visiting my home. 2014 – Where It All Began: Ethiopia's Heritage

Our founder's journey began as a Tour Operator with Priceless Ethiopia Tours, creating and leading thematic tours focused on Ethiopia's UNESCO World Heritage sites. That same passion for authentic, historically rich travel would later shape everything Africa Tour Guide stands for.

2018 – Guiding Off the Beaten Path

Working as a freelance Tour Operator and Guide with Agape Tour, our founder began guiding travelers to Ethiopia's lesser-known destinations, building the deep, on-the-ground local knowledge that powers every Africa Tour Guide itinerary today.

2019 – Mastering the Craft of Tour Logistics

Coordinating private and group tour logistics with Galaxy Express Services sharpened the operational expertise behind every Africa Tour Guide journey — from transport and accommodation to the small details that make a trip seamless.

2020 – The Birth of Africa Tour Guide

Africa Tour Guide was founded in Addis Ababa, bringing together years of hands-on tour operating experience to design and lead fully customized tours across Ethiopia and the wider African continent.

2021 – Serving Communities Beyond Tourism

Alongside growing Africa Tour Guide, our founder served as a translator and interpreter for Médecins Sans Frontières in Tigray, supporting humanitarian medical missions — a reminder that our commitment to Ethiopia runs deeper than travel alone.

2023 – Expanding Across Ethiopia and Africa

Africa Tour Guide grew into a full-service Tour Operator, organizing historical, cultural, and adventure journeys not only across Ethiopia but throughout 10 African countries, backed by skilled, multilingual, university-trained guides and drivers.

2025 – Pioneering Sustainable, Community-Rooted Tourism

Today, Africa Tour Guide continues to champion sustainable tourism practices and community engagement, guided by our founder's ongoing work with Rotary International in women's empowerment, environmental protection, and education for all.
