About Tour Package

This journey heads south from Addis Ababa into a part of Ethiopia unlike any other — the Omo Valley, home to some of the most culturally diverse and visually striking communities left on the continent. The route begins gently, with a stop at Lake Ziway and Abiata-Shalla National Park for flamingoes and pelicans on the way to Hawassa, then continues to Arba Minch, your base for a boat trip on Lake Chamo among some of Africa's largest crocodiles, and a visit to the Dorze village, famous for its woven textiles and distinctive "false banana" enset houses.

From there, the pace shifts into the heart of the valley. In Turmi you're within reach of the Karo people at Korcho Village on the Omo River, famous for their intricate body painting, and the Dassenech people across the river at Omorate, reached by wooden boat. Market days along the way — rotating through Turmi, Dimeka, Key Afer, and Woyto — offer a rare chance to see Hamer, Karo, and Nyangatom communities trading side by side, and if the timing lines up with a Hamer bull-jumping ceremony, we'll adjust the itinerary to make sure you see it.

The final days take you to Jinka, home to the Ari people and their pottery and agriculture traditions, and into Mago National Park to meet the Mursi people, known worldwide for the lip plates worn by their women. The journey closes at the Konso Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of stone-walled terraces and fortified hilltop villages, before returning north through Arba Minch for your flight back to Addis Ababa. This is not a checklist of photo stops — it's a journey through one of the last places on Earth where so many distinct ways of life still exist side by side.
